Huanglian River Scenic Area

Huanglian River Scenic Area lies in the southeast of Daguan County, just 5.5 kilometres from the county seat. It features distinct vertical climate variation, living up to the local saying: “One mountain embraces four seasons; weather changes within ten li.” The landscape combines the delicate beauty of southern China and the rugged scenery of the north. Mountains, rivers, forests and caves are perfectly integrated. The wonders of strangeness, grace, seclusion and elegance together form a fascinating landscape painting. It is officially designated as a national AA-level scenic spot.

The major attractions include more than 20 scenic sites: Fairy Maiden Waterfall, Lover Waterfall, Young Girl Waterfall, Matchmaker God Waterfall, Mandarin Duck Waterfall, Antiphonal Singing Waterfall, Welcome Guest Waterfall, God of Longevity Waterfall, Pearl Curtain Waterfall, the mysterious and varied White Elephant Cave, the refreshing Water Curtain Corridor, and the thrilling Giant Slide. Coupled with the rare dove trees whose blossoms look just like flying pigeons, this place boasts extraordinary natural wonders. Early summer is the best travel season. Wandering among waterfalls and green trees brings cool comfort.

The scenic area is famous for its waterfall clusters, complemented by mist-shrouded mountain peaks, towering ancient trees, bird-filled bamboo forests, and the rare dove flowers shaped like pigeons. Visitors can also experience the warm hospitality of Miao villages.

There are altogether 47 waterfalls of varying sizes in this zone, with the maximum drop reaching 142 metres. Every waterfall has its unique shape and character. The Antiphonal Singing Waterfall symbolizes faithful love.
