A Guide to Saihantala Ecological Park
Saihantala means "beautiful grassland" in Mongolian. Located in the southeast of Qingshan District, Saihantala Ecological Park covers a total area of 537 hectares, including 150 hectares of woodland and 380 hectares of grassland. The Saihantala Ethnic Custom Park is an integral part of the ecological park.
The park’s buildings are mainly traditional Mongolian yurts. It offers a rich variety of Mongolian cuisine, such as whole roasted lamb, roasted lamb ribs, roasted lamb back, hand-served boiled mutton, blood sausages and meat sausages, as well as Mongolian-Han feasts and full lamb banquets.
Available recreational activities include competitive sports known as the "Three Manly Arts": horse riding, archery and wrestling. Visitors can also take grassland tours on fine horses, Bactrian camels and ox carts. Cultural performances are staged regularly, featuring ethnic singing and dancing, horse troop welcoming ceremonies, bonfire parties and Ordos wedding rituals (separate ticket required). The Aobao Worship Ceremony is held here annually on the 17th day of the eighth lunar month.
