Baotou Museum

Baotou Museum stands on the picturesque Aldin Street in downtown Baotou, Inner Mongolia, adjacent to Youyi Square. Covering a total floor area of 16,000 square meters, 7,600 square meters of which are exhibition halls, it is a large comprehensive museum focusing on Baotou and covering western Inner Mongolia.

The museum collects, preserves, researches and displays cultural relics, natural resources and achievements of socialist construction from different historical periods of Baotou and its surrounding areas. It disseminates historical, scientific and cultural knowledge, carries out education on patriotism and historical materialism for the public, and boosts the development of socialist spiritual civilization.

Its permanent exhibitions include the Local Historical Relics Gallery, the Fine Exhibition of Murals from Liao Dynasty Tombs in Aohan, Inner Mongolia, the Ancient Inner Mongolian Rock Paintings Gallery, the Rare Earth Exhibition Hall, and the Achievement Exhibition Fifty Years of Baotou. These exhibitions showcase Baotou’s profound and extensive history and culture, a dazzling array of rare treasures, unique mountain and river landforms, and abundant natural resources unrivaled nationwide. Among all displays, the ancient Inner Mongolian rock paintings and rare earth exhibits are distinctive and unparalleled across China.
