Recommended Chishui Travel Itineraries

This one-day itinerary lets you experience two iconic highlights of Chishui: spectacular Danxia landforms and magnificent waterfalls.

Head to Shizhangdong in the morning to visit Shizhangdong Great Waterfall, Panlong Waterfall Group, Jifeiyan Waterfall Group, Renyou Stream Waterfall, Xiangxi Lake, Stalagmite Peak, Ganoderma Rock and the hidden waterfalls nearby. (Duration: about 2 hours)

On the way back, stop by Zhongdong Waterfall, then proceed to Lianghekou Town for lunch. Take the bus back to Chishui departing around 13:00, and get off at Yanziyan after a 15-minute ride. (Duration: about 3 hours)

Catch the return shuttle bus from Lianghekou at 15:00 or 16:30 back to Chishui.

Three days is ample time to explore the natural scenery of Chishui and fully appreciate its four major features: waterfalls, Danxia landforms, bamboo seas and tree fern forests.

Depart from downtown Chishui for Yanziyan to admire plunging waterfalls and distinctive Danxia landscapes. (Duration: about 3 hours)

Continue onward to Shizhangdong Scenic Area. Taste local specialties such as barrel rice, cured pork and soft tofu curd for lunch, then tour the area to view cascading waterfalls and lush vegetation. (Duration: half a day)

Return to downtown Chishui in the afternoon.

Visit Bing’an Ancient Town in the morning to enjoy its peaceful atmosphere and admire the unique stilted houses. (Duration: about 3 hours)

Try local snacks for lunch, then head to the Bamboo Sea. Witness the marvelous Heavenly Drum and Ground Waterfall sights and immerse yourself in the vast bamboo forest. (Duration: about 3 hours)

Return to Chishui in the afternoon.

Travel to Sidonggou Scenic Area to see a cluster of graceful small waterfalls. On your way back, make a detour to visit Datong Ancient Town.
