Guangxi is a land of rich and diverse scenery. Among its numerous waterfalls, Detian Waterfall stands out as the most famous. Located in Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the China-Vietnam border, it spans China and Vietnam. With a maximum width of over 200 meters, it ranks as the largest transnational waterfall in Asia. If you wish to admire this marvelous natural wonder, check out the self-driving travel guide below.
Detian Waterfall Travel Guide
The waterfall presents its most stunning views in the morning, so it is recommended to stay outside the downtown area. Daxin County offers a wide range of accommodation options. Be sure to check in advance whether your hotel provides parking spaces.
The best visiting period is from June to November each year, especially in summer. This is the rainy season, when the waterfall has abundant and clear water, and the surrounding vegetation is lush. Though the waterfall never dries up in other seasons, the water flow decreases, with more rocks and soil exposed, which will affect the viewing experience.
While touring the site, you may walk along the mountain plank road on the opposite hillside to enjoy a full view of the waterfall. For a closer look, take a bamboo raft on the river for sightseeing and photography. The raft ride costs 30 yuan per person.
