Special Local Products of Qingyuan

What Specialties Does Qingyuan Have?

Qingyuan Chicken

Also known as Qingyuan Partridge Chicken, it gets its name from the countless sesame-like speckles covering the back feathers of hens. Raised free-range outdoors, it features a distinctive appearance summed up as "pointed head, thin limbs, speckled plumage".
It is a versatile ingredient fit for all cooking methods: steaming, braising, stewing, stir-frying and roasting all bring out its premium flavor. It boasts golden, thin skin and tender, succulent meat with an intense authentic chicken aroma. After eating, a sweet, mellow aftertaste lingers in the throat, leaving an unforgettable delicate flavor.

Wuzong Goose (Black Mane Goose)

Named for the striking strip of black plumage running from its neck down its back, the Wuzong Goose has a compact, short and broad body, a small head, slender neck and short legs. Male geese are larger, shaped like olive pits, while females have a wedge-shaped frame.
Roast goose, a classic Cantonese signature dish, is made by roasting a whole goose. It turns a glossy golden-red with firm, moderate-sized carcasses and fine bones. The tender, juicy meat with crisp, soft skin creates an irresistible taste that makes visitors reluctant to leave.

Yingde Black Tea

Yingde Black Tea boasts a long cultivation history. The tea-growing area features rolling peaks winding through rivers with karst landforms, forming an environment abundant in caves and water that nourishes tea bushes. Its tea leaves are tight, heavy, glossy, fine and uniform, covered with golden fine hairs, emitting a bright, rich floral fragrance. Ranked among China’s Top Five Black Teas alongside Qimen Black Tea and Yunnan Black Tea, it sells well in Hong Kong, Macao and Southeast Asia.
It delivers a thick, sweet mellow taste with bright reddish liquor and soft, ruddy brewed leaves, soothing the spirit and refreshing the palate. When mixed with milk, the tea turns a gorgeous reddish-brown with a rich, clean flavor, presenting a unique combination of color, aroma and taste distinct from Yunnan and Qimen black teas.

Lianshan Rice

With over 600 years of planting history, Lianshan Rice adopts organic eco-farming techniques including duck-rice symbiosis, light traps for pest control and manual weeding, embodying profound historical culture and green agricultural development.
Its plump, translucent jade-white grains produce glossy cooked rice that is soft yet non-sticky, without hardening or retrograding after cooling. The rice carries a perfect blend of sweetness, softness and silkiness for an excellent taste. Each grain is carefully selected, yielding exceptionally fresh rice that leaves diners craving another bowl.

Qingxin Crystal Tangerine

Also called October Tangerine, Qingxin Honey Tangerine or Sugar Tangerine. The region is dominated by hilly terrain with red earth and lateritic red soil. The whole county enjoys ample sunshine, abundant heat, sufficient rainfall and a long frost-free period, with fertile soil creating ideal growing conditions for crystal tangerines.
Famous far and wide for its sweet, tender, juicy flesh that melts effortlessly in the mouth with few or no seeds, it leaves a lingering sweet fragrance on the palate after eating.

Liannan Yao Camellia Oil

A traditional edible oil of the Yao people in Liannan with a long history, it is cultivated on a large scale with high oil yield. Produced through fully natural processes without pollution or chemical refinement.
Clear, sweet and free of bitter notes, it offers medicinal benefits including anti-inflammation, detoxification, fading pigment spots, relieving infantile convulsions and lowering blood lipids, making it an excellent gift choice.

Xiniu Bamboo Shoots (Yingde Bamboo Shoots)

The unique geographic environment of Xiniu yields tall, luxuriant bamboo plants rich in protein. A natural pollution-free health food, it serves as a premium delicacy for banquets.
Famed across Guangdong and beyond for its tender, crisp texture and rich bamboo flavor, it is hailed as "the finest vegetable treasure". Its fragrant tenderness delights every taste bud.

Xingzi Red Shallots

A distinctive crop grown on red soil farmland in Xingzi Town, Lianzhou City in northern Guangdong’s mountainous region. It acts as an ideal seasoning for Chinese cuisine and also functions as versatile herbal medicine.
Its bulb swells to the thickness of a thumb, with ripe outer scales in bright red and tender inner scales in purple. High in aromatic shallot oil, it releases an intense, appetizing fragrance when stir-fried with dishes.

Liannan Seedless Lemons

Blessed with clear mountains, limpid waters, humid climate and high forest coverage, Liannan produces long oval lemons with bright orange-yellow, smooth fresh skin and strong fragrance.
Fruiting all year round, the lemons feature an elongated shape, thick peel, rich aroma and ample juice. Citric acid helps prevent and fade skin pigmentation, highly recommended for beauty-conscious women.

Dongpo Cured Meats

A local specialty of Lianzhou, Qingyuan with a history of more than 300 years, including cured pork, sausages, cured duck and cured dog meat. Fresh livestock and poultry are processed through careful ingredient selection, salting and air-drying.
They feature a strong authentic cured aroma, tender crisp texture and lasting aftertaste, carrying the unique mellow fragrance of air-dried preserved meats.

Zhushan Kudzu Root

Zhushan kudzu roots are tender, residue-free and sweet, with heat-clearing and detoxifying effects. They can be simmered in soups, braised with meat, or ground into kudzu starch to brew with boiling water for drinking.
