What Beaches Are There in Yangjiang?
The two most famous beach destinations in Yangjiang are Zhapo Hailing Island (ticket required) and Shaba Bay in Yangxi (ticket required). Today we will compare the unique highlights of these two scenic spots.
Hailing Island, Yangjiang
Brief introduction: Hailing Island is an island under the jurisdiction of Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province. It is home to numerous beaches, including Ten-Mile Silver Beach (ticket required), Dajiaowan (ticket required) and Mawei Island. Self-driving visitors can drive around and explore the whole island.
Mawei Island
It is renowned for the classic scenic sight "Sunset at Mawei". As the westernmost headland of the island, it offers the perfect vantage point to watch sunsets. When the sky blazes with crimson glow at dusk, crowds of photography enthusiasts line up here with cameras and telephoto lenses to capture the stunning view.
Fewer tourists come here, so the atmosphere is exceptionally peaceful. The soft sea breeze carrying the scent of seafood fills the air everywhere.
On the way to Mawei Island, you will see countless fishing boats scattered across the sea, forming a distinctive picturesque scene from afar. Most of these boats double as seafood restaurants serving freshly caught seafood, though their prices are slightly higher.
Dajiaowan
A national 5A-level tourist attraction, Dajiaowan nestles against lush green mountain ridges and is blessed by unparalleled natural beauty. Famous worldwide for its bright sunshine, soft beaches, rolling waves and fresh seafood, it faces the vast South China Sea and boasts multi-layered, diverse coastal landscapes.
Ten-Mile Silver Beach
Ten-Mile Silver Beach combines delicate beauty with grand ruggedness, surrounded by mountains on three sides. It stretches 9.7 kilometers in total with a coastline of 16.5 kilometers long, recorded in the Guinness World Records. It ranks among China’s rarest clean and unspoiled beaches.
Mawei Island (Repeated Introduction)
Mawei Island is covered with dense shade trees, featuring shallow gentle seabeds and calm waters. Its fame for "Sunset at Mawei" spreads far and wide. Standing at the westernmost tip of Hailing Island, it is the top spot for sunset viewing, drawing hordes of visitors to linger and wait for the glow when the sky is filled with colorful evening clouds.
