What fun attractions does Longhu Mountain have?
Longhu Mountain Scenic Area lies 20 kilometers southwest of Yingtan City, Jiangxi Province. It is the birthplace of Taoism in China.
The 200-plus hanging coffin sites at Longhu Mountain have drawn widespread attention. According to research by experts, these cliff tombs with hanging coffins date back more than 2,600 years and are the burial grounds of the ancient Yue people.
Longhu Mountain boasts abundant groundwater resources. The mountainous areas feature lush vegetation, water-rich bedrock fissures and deeply cut landforms, creating favorable conditions for groundwater circulation.
Elephant Trunk Hill is a residual beam-and-cave landscape formed by long-term rainfall erosion, dissolution and weathering, followed by rock collapse. A stone beam hangs mid-air on the roughly 100-meter-high peak, making the entire mountain look like a giant stone elephant bending down to drink water.
Gui Peak
Gui Peak stands on the south bank of the Xinjiang River in Yiyang County, 35 kilometers west of Yingtan. It is situated between Sanqing Mountain, Longhu Mountain and Wuyi Mountain. The scenic area comprises 36 peaks and eight major sights. Originally named Turtle Peak, it got its name because the stacked rock formations resemble turtles.
Tianmen Mountain
Tianmen Mountain is located 5 kilometers south of Shangqing Town, with its highest peak reaching 1,300 meters above sea level. Formed of Late Jurassic volcanic rocks, the scenic area features steep slopes, deep valleys, bizarre rock formations and dense forests, presenting a grand and magnificent view.
Golden Spear Peak
Golden Spear Peak, also known as Jieshi or Pestle-and-Mortar Rock, rises to the east of Swan Lake. It stands 118 meters above sea level, and the main rock pillar is around 60 meters tall.
Elephant Trunk Hill
Formed through long-term rainfall scouring, chemical dissolution, weathering and rock collapse, Elephant Trunk Hill is a typical residual landscape with stone beams and natural caves. A stone beam dangles in the air on the 100-meter-tall mountain, shaping the whole landform into a giant stone elephant drinking water.
Paiya Peaks
Stretching about 2 kilometers, Paiya Peaks has an elevation of 267.5 meters at its highest point. This cluster of connected peaks was shaped by long-term water erosion. Running north to south in a narrow strip, it consists of a series of distinctive peaks: the Three Pure Ones Discourse Peak at the northern end, followed by Bajie Dreaming of Immortals Peak, Carp Peak, Top Scholar Peak and Candle Peak in the middle, and the Giant Blade Cut Peak at the southern tip
