Fairy Lake is situated in the southwest of Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province. The scenic area covers a total area of 179 square kilometers, including 50 square kilometers of water surface. As a national key lake-type scenic spot, it integrates sightseeing, entertainment, vacation and leisure. It is the very place where the legend of celestial maidens descending to the mortal world, recorded by Gan Bao, a litterateur of the Eastern Jin Dynasty, in his work Records of the Search for Spirits, took place.
