Two-Day Tour: Jinzhou — Bijia Mountain
Day 1
Pick up the group in Jinzhou in the early morning. Visit the Memorial Museum of the Liaoshen Campaign. Then head for Bijia Mountain and Baitaizi Bathing Beach. Overnight stay near Bijia Mountain.
Day 2
Watch the sunrise early in the morning. Visit the miraculous natural tidal causeway, Lv Zu Pavilion, Five Mothers Palace, Sun Palace and Sanqing Pavilion. Return to downtown Jinzhou to tour Daguangji Temple and the Ancient Pagoda, then wrap up the trip.
Two-Day Tour of the Small City
Most people know Jinzhou for the Liaoshen Campaign. In fact, it is a time-honored cultural city with a history of more than 2,000 years. You can spend two days exploring this charming city in Northeast China.
Day 1: Bijia Mountain → Guangji Temple
Start your trip with Bijia Mountain beside Jinzhou Port.
Boasting picturesque mountains and waters, the site features numerous historical relics. Be sure to set off from the shore when the tide recedes and walk along the 1,620-metre tidal causeway. Standing on the mountain and looking down, you will see the sand road appearing and disappearing like a giant dragon, a truly amazing natural wonder.
In the afternoon, take a bus back to downtown and visit Guangji Temple in the Guta District.
Located inside Guta Park, the temple consists of two courtyards with exquisitely crafted halls. At sunset, flocks of crows circle above the pagoda top, just as they did hundreds of years ago.
Dining:
Seafood at Bijia Mountain seaside is cheaper than that in Beidaihe and Dalian, with prices similar to those in Xingcheng.
Accommodation:
Home Inn near the city stadium is recommended for convenient transportation.
Tips:
Avoid eating fruit right after seafood to prevent stomach upset.
Day 2: North Putuo Mountain → Memorial Museum of the Liaoshen Campaign
Visit North Putuo Mountain, 7 kilometres northwest of the urban area.
Famous across the sixteen prefectures of Yan and Yun, the mountain is home to ancient temples and cliff carvings. You can stroll freely and enjoy ever-changing beautiful scenery in four seasons.
In the afternoon, go back downtown to visit the well-known Memorial Museum of the Liaoshen Campaign.
The quiet and solemn courtyard is lined with lush pine and cypress trees. A wall is engraved with the names of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War. As you read the names and admire the grand exhibition halls, you can reflect on the history of the Liaoshen Campaign.

Local delicacies include Goubangzi Smoked Chicken, juicy soup dumplings, Bai’s pan-fried dumplings and mixed pickled vegetables.

Spring brings frequent sandstorms in Jinzhou. Remember to bring sunglasses to protect your eyes.
Four-Day Surrounding Tour
Jinzhou combines the rugged spirit of Northeast China with refreshing sea breezes. Over four days, you can witness tidal wonders, visit the war memorial, taste seafood and barbecue, and explore ancient towns for a rewarding journey.
Day 1: Bijia Mountain → Guangji Temple
Spend the morning visiting Bijia Mountain beside Jinzhou Port.
You can explore a great many cultural relics here. Don’t miss the chance to walk across the 1,620-metre tidal causeway when the tide falls. From the mountain top, the sand road looms and vanishes like a divine dragon.
In the afternoon, return to the city to visit Guangji Temple in Guta District.
The two-courtyard temple features elaborate ancient architecture. At dusk, you can watch crows wheeling around the pagoda.

Seafood at Bijia seaside is reasonably priced, cheaper than in Dalian and Beidaihe.

Day 2: North Putuo Mountain → Memorial Museum of the Liaoshen Campaign
In the morning, travel to North Putuo Mountain 7 kilometres northwest of the city.
It is celebrated for ancient grottoes, cliff inscriptions and colourful seasonal landscapes. Take a casual walk and enjoy the peaceful mountain scenery.
In the afternoon, visit the Memorial Museum of the Liaoshen Campaign.
The serene park is dotted with evergreen trees. The Martyrs Name Wall and grand exhibition halls help visitors remember the great campaign.
Dining:
Try local specialties such as Goubangzi Smoked Chicken, soup dumplings and pan-fried dumplings.
Accommodation:
There are 12 mid-range hotels, including five three-star and three two-star hotels with full facilities.
Tips:
Bring sunglasses against spring sandstorms.
Day 3: Beizhen → Yiwulu Mountain → Qingyan Temple
Take a train from the railway station to Beizhen and tour Yiwulu Mountain.
Ranked the most famous mountain in Northeast China, it boasts profound history and fantastic natural scenery with jagged rock peaks and green pines. Standing on the summit, you can overlook the Bohai Sea where the sea meets the sky.
In the afternoon, head for Qingyan Temple in western Changxingdian Town, one of the major scenic spots on Yiwulu Mountain.
The temple is famous for the Goddess with a Crooked Neck. You can enter the hall to see the statue and listen to local folk legends.
Dining:
Goubangzi Smoked Chicken is a national famous dish with a secret recipe, which you must taste in Beizhen.
Accommodation:
Book a hotel near Qingyan Temple for reasonable prices and convenience for the next day’s trip.
Tips:
Many pilgrims come to pray here. Please avoid any disrespectful remarks about Buddhism.
Day 4: Chongxing Temple Twin Pagodas → Li Chengliang Memorial Arch → Drum Tower
Continue your sightseeing in Beizhen.
In the morning, visit the Chongxing Temple Twin Pagodas. The east and west pagodas stand facing each other with identical elegant styles. Though built a long time ago, the structures remain well-preserved. The ringing bronze bells seem to recount stories of the Liao Dynasty.
Next, walk along the downtown pedestrian street to see the Li Chengliang Memorial Arch. Erected in the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty in honour of General Li Chengliang of Liaodong, this grand stone arch is well worth a photo.
Then visit the nearby Drum Tower, which echoes the memorial arch. Eight huge characters are carved on its north and south sides: Important Town of Youzhou and Strict Frontier of Northern Ji. Climb the tower and enjoy a full view of Beizhen City.

Goubangzi juicy soup dumplings are widely available in local snack bars in Beizhen.
Accommodation:
Most hotels in Beizhen are budget-friendly. Compare several options and pick one with a pleasant environment.
