Introduction to North Putuo Mountain
It lies 7 kilometres in the northwest suburb of Jinzhou. Boasting a long history and profound cultural heritage, it faces South Putuo Mountain from afar and is praised as "the No.1 Buddhist Mountain beyond the Great Wall".
It is famous for eight scenic wonders celebrated throughout the Sixteen Prefectures of Yan and Yun: Pines and Snow on Stone Hall, Sunrise over Maple Forest, Sea View from Green Hills, Crouching Dragon Red Rock, Water-Dripping Guanyin, Bright Sunshine over Hongchi Pool, and Sunset over Beacon Tower.
The mountain features grand and grotesque ridges, oddly shaped peaks and rocks, mountain springs hidden among green cypresses and bodhi trees, and steep cliffs draped with ancient trees. Famous peaks, ancient temples and cliff carvings create stunning natural scenery at every turn.
The nine scenic zones contain more than fifty attractions. Clouds, rocks, streams, caves, woods, flowers, fish and birds blend perfectly together. Grandeur, peril, wonder, tranquility, motion and stillness bring out the beauty of nature. It is indeed a blessed fairyland on earth.
