Luanzhou Ancient City, Tangshan

Known as Luanzhou in ancient times, it sits in Luanzhou Town, Luan County, Hebei Province. Located near the capital hinterland beside the Luan River, it is a vital transportation passage leading to the three northeastern provinces. A time-honored city nurtured by thousands of years of culture, the ancient city features distinctive northern-style waterside streets, a snack street, an antique street, and a courtyard inn street that fully showcase the charm of an old northern town.

Eastern Qing Tombs

Nestled in Zunhua City, Tangshan, Hebei Province, the Eastern Qing Tombs form China’s largest, most complete and well-arranged complex of imperial mausoleums still in existence. It is a World Cultural Heritage Site and a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction. Five imperial tombs were built here, holding the remains of 14 empresses and 136 imperial concubines in total. Yuantuo Island

Tucked in an arm of the Bohai Bay, Yuantuo Island is one of the most famous eco-tourism resorts in northern China, also nicknamed Green Island and Happy Island. Surrounded by the sea, it retains primitive landforms covered with thick shrubs and wild weeds, where ecological landscapes and exquisite coastal scenery complement each other perfectly.

Jingzhong Mountain

A sacred religious resort located in Qianxi County, Jingzhong Mountain stands 610 meters above sea level. The Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty personally inscribed the plaque "Famous Mountain Under Heaven" for it. Covering an area of 15 square kilometers, the scenic area boasts more than 30 attractions of varying sizes, including Four Generals Hall, Three Tea Pavilions, Temple of the Goddess of Blue Dawn and East Buddha Pavilion. Integrating Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism on one mountain, it carries profound and time-honored Buddhist and Taoist culture.

Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Hall

The Tangshan Earthquake Memorial Hall stands on the west side of the Earthquake Monument Square in downtown Tangshan. The four pillars of the main monument symbolize the rising new buildings of Tangshan, representing the city’s prosperity. The top of the main monument stretches upward like four giant hands reaching for the sky, embodying the belief that humans can conquer nature. There are four flights of steps around the monument, each with seven steps, totaling 28 steps to commemorate the date July 28.

Putuo Island, Tangshan

Formerly named Shijiu Tuo, Putuo Island lies in offshore waters southwest of Leting County, Hebei Province. It is a sandy coastal island in the Bohai Sea and the largest island in North China. Raised around the edges and sunken in the middle, its terrain resembles an ancient stone mortar used for husking grain, hence its original name. It gains its current name from the numerous bodhi trees growing on the island and its once flourishing Buddhist activities.

Panjiakou

Located inside Panjiakou Reservoir in Kuancheng Manchu Autonomous County, Hebei Province, this spot features the marvelous Underwater Great Wall. After the state completed the large-scale Panjiakou Reservoir water conservancy hub in 1975, the water level rose higher than the Great Wall, submerging Xifengkou and Panjiakou Castles. Since then, this five-hundred-year-old section of the Great Wall has vanished under the water, becoming the world-famous Underwater Great Wall.

Xifengkou Pass

Xifengkou Pass sits on the border of Qianxi County and Kuancheng County, a strategic mountain pass on the eastern Yanshan Mountain Range. The Xifengkou Tourist Resort is divided into five scenic zones: Xifeng Lake Zone, Ancient Great Wall Zone, Dan 梯 Gorge Zone, Great Buddha Mountain Zone and Dam Zone.

Jiufeng Mountain

Situated at the southern foot of the Yanshan Mountains, Jiufeng Mountain is also known as Three Platform Mountain, split into Front Platform, Middle Platform and Rear Platform. The flat Front Platform was a training ground for ancient mountain monks practicing martial arts. The precipitous Middle Platform is home to the renowned Self-Sacrifice Platform. The perilous Rear Platform is rarely visited by travelers. The natural ecology of Jiufeng Mountain can be summed up as exotic rocks, clear streams and secluded forests.

Chanlin Temple Ancient Ginkgo Scenic Garden

Chanlin Temple Ancient Ginkgo Scenic Garden is located in Houjiazhai Township, Zunhua City. It borders the Great Wall to the north, downtown Zunhua to the south, Jiufeng Mountain to the east and the Eastern Qing Tombs to the west. The garden is famous for its three ancient treasures: ancient mountains, an ancient temple and ancient trees.

Ten Thousand Buddha Garden

Ten Thousand Buddha Garden is a large antique sightseeing garden themed on Buddhist culture, named after ten thousand jade and golden Buddha statues of diverse shapes enshrined within. The 9,999 golden Buddha statues housed in the pagoda consumed 2,600 taels of pure gold, and a sacred relic of the 6th Panchen Lama is enshrined at the pagoda spire. Rare treasures adorn the garden like a sacred Buddhist hall: the Three Golden Buddhas cast from 650 taels of pure gold and 4,000 taels of silver, and a 1.9-meter-tall jadeite Guanyin statue weighing 1.6 tons.
