Luobei River Drifting Scenic Area, Guiding County

Guiding County falls under Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province. Situated on the eastern Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, it boasts abundant tourism resources with a total population of 288,000.

It is 68 kilometres away from Guiyang, the provincial capital, 56 kilometres from Longdongbao International Airport and 76 kilometres from Duyun, the prefectural seat. Major railway lines including the Qian-Gui Railway, Xiang-Qian Railway and the double-track Zhu-Liu Railway converge in the county seat. The Guiyang-Xinyi Expressway, a major thoroughfare linking southwest and south China, runs alongside the city, and Provincial Highway 309 stretches across the county. The upcoming capacity expansion project of the Qian-Gui Railway and the Guiyang-Guangzhou Expressway will cut through the central part of the county.

Benefiting from its outstanding geographical location and convenient transportation, Guiding serves as a vital transport hub in southwest China, reputed as "the Throat of Central Guizhou".

Luobei River Drifting Scenic Area lies merely 6 kilometres from downtown Guiding. As a provincial-level scenic spot, it enjoys easy accessibility. Covering an area of 25 square kilometres, the scenic zone includes 17 natural sights. The canyons, river valleys along the Luobei River and well-preserved forests create a harmonious ecological landscape.

The drifting route stretches 18 kilometres. The current alternates between gentle stretches and turbulent rapids, with well-distributed rough waves, dangerous shoals, torrents and secluded valleys. Visitors can experience thrills without real danger, making the journey breathtaking. It is known as "No.1 Drift in Central Guizhou" and ranks among the four most famous drifting sites in Guizhou Province.

By public transport: Take a train from Guiyang Railway Station or a coach from Qiannan Bus Station in Guiyang to Guiding (a one-hour trip). Then take a local bus from Guiding Bus Station directly to the scenic area within 20 minutes. Package tours operated by travel agencies are also available.
