Ding'er Mountain Bamboo Courtyard Grassland — A Plateau Wonder in Guiding County

Ding'er Mountain lies in Gonggu Township, 50 kilometres away from the county seat, covering a total area of 70 square kilometres. It sits on an erosion surface of siliceous sandstone and mudstone strata, forming a hogback-shaped plateau with an altitude of 1,626 metres. Vast grasslands and bamboo forests stretch across the plateau. Admission to this site is free of charge.

Beneath the overhanging cliffs on the plateau lie secondary terraces of varying sizes and shapes. Abundant seepage water and leached water from the grasslands have created fertile land, making this a settlement for ethnic minorities. Gurgling springs and clear brooks wind through the area, with numerous cascading waterfalls weaving together like silver ribbons draped over green mountains.

At the foot of Ding'er Mountain, clear streams wind around vast stretches of farmland. The area is dotted with fantastic caves and gullies, together with abundant cultural relics: Longshan Camp, Weiyuan Camp and Lian'an Camp in Gonggu, stone memorial archways, the Nine-Dragon Cave and Immortal Cave Group in Yangliu, as well as the rocky river bend among bamboo groves where red-crowned cranes gather. Gonggu boasts rich ethnic traditions, and the singing and dancing performances of the Buyi and Miao peoples carry distinctive local features.

The Bamboo Courtyard in Ding'er Village enjoys a quiet environment with fresh air and pure flowing mountain springs, serving as an ideal natural summer retreat.
