Brief Introduction
Wenchang Palace was constructed in the Ming Dynasty. According to legend, Bai Yuchan, the 12th-generation disciple of Heavenly Master Zhang Daoling, passed by this area during his travels. He discovered a sand demon by the river that stirred up troubles and brought disasters to local villagers. To ensure the residents lived in peace and contentment, Taoist Master Bai Yuchan proposed that the Changzhou Prefecture build a Wenchang Palace to bless the local community. Two stone steles dating back to the late Qing Dynasty stand at the front gate of Wenchang Palace.
