The Yuezhou Kiln Site was discovered at Mawangkan in Wenxing Town in 1997. Archaeologists unearthed a Sui-dynasty dragon kiln, together with a large quantity of celadon wares and saggars. Among the finds were more than 700 intact or nearly intact pieces and thousands of restorable fragments. In addition, shards of celadon bowls inscribed with "Imperial Provisioner" dating back to the Southern Dynasties were also excavated, which proves that Yuezhou Kiln had the nature of an official imperial kiln.

A museum was built on the kiln ruins in 2003. In early 2010, an underground exhibition hall was opened to display numerous exquisite celadon artefacts, with a passage leading directly to the Sui-dynasty dragon kiln site.
