Ploughing Field

When Zhuge Liang resided in Longzhong, he reclaimed wasteland and farmed alongside his younger brother Zhuge Jun, leading a self-sufficient farming life.

In 1984, Longzhong Scenic Area erected a single-eave hip-roof pavilion right in the middle of the Ploughing Field. Hanging above the pavilion is a horizontal inscribed board bearing the inscription Tranquil Rural Simplicity. Inside the pavilion stands a stone stele carved with the words Tilling the Farmland, inscribed by Liu Huaqing, former Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China, during his visit to Longzhong before 2002.

Every spring, golden rapeseed flowers bloom all around the pavilion, as if narrating the reclusive years of young Zhuge Liang.
