Thatched Cottage Theatre

Thatched Cottage Theatre is China’s first and largest exhibition building modeled after a traditional thatched cottage. Nestled in a lush mountain valley within the Longzhong Scenic Area, it features four above-ground floors and one underground floor, covering a land area of 11,800 square meters with seating capacity for 1,700 audiences.

Green mountains form a natural backdrop to its north, while two lakes, one large and one small, border its western and southern sides respectively. The central stage boasts a diameter of 80 meters, divided by a Yin-Yang fish pattern to form the Taiji symbol. This design embodies ancient Chinese philosophical concepts of "harmony between man and nature" and wholeness and perfection.

Every Friday and Saturday, Thatched Cottage · Zhuge Liang — China’s first grand live-action drama integrated with immersive video projections — is staged here. Blending cutting-edge modern multimedia projection technology with avant-garde theatrical performances, the production vividly recreates iconic stories of the Three Kingdoms era through intricate scenes: Liu Bei trekking through snow to seek talent during his three visits to the cottage, Huang Yueying’s wedding, and the Battle of Red Cliffs where a chain of enemy warships was set ablaze. The show unfolds the legendary life of Zhuge Liang, hailed as the Sage of Wisdom
