After Zhuge Liang left Longzhong, the scenic area suffered several severe destructions throughout history. Among all relics related to Zhuge Liang’s daily life that survived after he set off to serve the lords, only this well remains—the Hexagonal Well, which supplied domestic water when he resided here. It is regarded as the treasure guarding the mountains of Longzhong.
The well gets its name from its brick-laid hexagonal outer wall. Historical records state it was originally five zhang deep, approximately 15 meters. Over the passage of centuries, silt accumulated at the bottom, reducing its current depth to a little over 5 meters. Even so, clear water still fills the well down to its bottom.
