Scenic Spot Introduction
Shuanglong Great Rift Valley Natural Scenic Area falls under the jurisdiction of Beizhuang Town. Nestled on Xiong'er Mountain to the west of Baodugu Scenic Area, a national forest park ranking first among the Seventy-Two Gu Landforms of Yimeng, it integrates natural landscapes including the Shuanglong Great Rift Valley, clusters of karst caves, Yellow Dragon Cave, Dragon-Clawed Cliff, Peony Nunnery, Bajie Cave and Dragon Spring. It boasts a distinctive karst geological wonder that is unique across Shandong Province and unparalleled nationwide.
Endowed with a superior geographic location and favorable natural conditions, Shuanglong Great Rift Valley Natural Scenic Area abounds in diverse forest vegetation and enjoys convenient transportation and communication networks. To its west run National Highway 104, the Beijing-Fuzhou Expressway, the Beijing-Shanghai Railway and Xuzhou Guanyin International Airport. To its east lie the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, Lianyungang Port and Shijiu Port. The Zaozhuang-Fei County Highway and Boshan-Xuzhou Highway pass through the territory. The region features a graceful and pleasant natural environment with outstanding natural and geographic strengths.
Located on the southern section of the western foothills of Xiong'er Mountain, the Shuanglong Great Rift Valley is an unparalleled karst landform landscape in China. Stretching 600 meters from west to east and 300 meters from south to north, the rift valley reaches an average height of 40 meters. Its crisscross terrain presents fantastic shifting vistas: some sections are shrouded in deep shadow blocking sunlight, while others suddenly open up to bright views. Winding paths twist past alternating grottoes arranged in neat layers, resembling a long celestial corridor flanked by towering, sheer cliffs covered in stalactites. The widest point of the rift measures 10 meters, while the narrowest passage only allows one person to squeeze sideways through.
Within the valley stand stunning natural sights such as Jade Maiden Peak, Sky-Supporting Jade Pillar, Mushroom Pagoda, Flying Stone, Thread of Sky, Flying Waterfall and Celestial Corridor, leaving visitors marveling at nature’s craftsmanship. The cave system features intricate interconnected structures: caves inside caves, caves stacked atop caves, interlocking and linked caverns forming spectacular, unique scenery. A number of cultural relics have also been unearthed within the caves, adding extra value to this exceptional natural tourist attraction.
Shuanglong Great Rift Valley Natural Scenic Area is surrounded by rolling lofty mountains with grand, imposing momentum. Deep gullies wind through green mountains and clear waters, filled with birdsong and blooming wildflowers. Nature, the master sculptor, has wrought miraculous landscapes of mountains, waters, forests and rocks on Xiong'er Mountain with extraordinary ingenuity. Wandering amid this breathtaking scenery, visitors can listen to tinkling mountain springs, inhale fragrant wild blossoms, breathe fresh mountain air and admire magical natural formations, experiencing a profound sense of returning to nature.
