Scenic Introduction
Yuncheng Wild Pagoda, also known as Guanyin Temple Pagoda, has a touching legend attached to it. It is said that as the bond between Heavenly King Li, the Pagoda Bearer, and his son Nezha grew deeper, the king split the Buddha-bestowed pagoda that once subdued Nezha into three sections and tossed them out of the Heavenly Gate. Instantly, violent winds sprang up, shrouding heaven and earth in darkness. The base of the pagoda landed in Yuncheng, its main body fell in Juye, and the spire drifted to Jinxiang. That explains why the pagodas of these three counties share an identical style.
Standing on the plain of southwestern Shandong, Guanyin Temple Pagoda of Yuncheng rises in the heart of this ancient city. The city of Yun was founded in the 4th year of Duke Cheng of Lu (587 BC), hence the name Yuncheng. This ancient pagoda standing in the downtown area, with countless moving folk tales surrounding it, has become the symbol of ancient Yuncheng
