Mudun Island Scenic Area (National 3A-level Tourist Attraction)
Mudun Island is the only inhabited islet in Hongze Lake. Boasting legendary cultural landscapes, gorgeous natural scenery, magical folk tales, abundant aquatic resources and charming lake views, it is reputed as a bright pearl on the lake and an unsinkable treasure island.
Now a national 3A-level tourist attraction, Mudun Island covers an area of 1.96 square kilometers. Its unique intangible cultural heritage item Hongze Lake Fishing Drum has been inscribed on the national intangible cultural heritage protection list by the State Council.
Standing on the island and looking far into the distance, you can spot white sails dotting the water, rippling across blue waves with the wind. Nearby, fishermen’s ballads rise and fall alongside the lapping waves. Slender green willows sway all over the island, lotus fragrance drifts along the shore, and hundreds of birds sing amid the woods. This vibrant scene filled with birdsong and blooming flowers allows visitors to truly appreciate the vastness and bold beauty of Hongze Lake, as well as the magnificent vista where water blends seamlessly with the sky.
