Liushan Lake Scenic Area (National 3A-level Tourist Attraction)

Located in Liushan Village, Shiji Township in the southeast of Sihong County, about 10 kilometers away from the county seat, the scenic area covers an area of 500 mu. It mainly contains a Buddhist cultural zone, a geopark zone, a Chinese chess cultural zone, an outward bound training zone, a fruit orchard zone, a children’s amusement zone and an ecological catering zone. Boasting stunning natural landscapes such as magical underground mountains and underground lakes, as well as abundant cultural relics including thousand-year-old Han Dynasty tombs, mysterious stone coffins and Xingyun Temple, the scenic area stands out with unique charm. It integrates cultural tourism, sightseeing and leisure, agritainment, outward bound training and other functions all in one place.

In ancient times, Liushan Mountain stood a hundred meters high, dotted with towering massive rocks and lush fine trees. At its foot stretched hundreds of li of flat farmlands rippling with green waves. The mountain was rich in high-quality stone materials. After thousands of years of deep underground quarrying, an underground lake spanning over 100,000 square meters took shape, with its deepest water reaching dozens of meters. The lake water is clear, sweet and still without ripples. Steep cliffs rise all around the lake, as if chiseled and split by blades, lined with jagged crags and grotesque rock formations. The dark red stone walls glow against the sunset, creating a distinctive poetic charm. Egrets and gulls gather and soar above the lake, while shoals of fish can be seen clearly at the bottom. The blue sky, white clouds, red cliffs and green pine trees reflect in the clear emerald lake water, forming a gorgeous breathtaking view. The primitive wilderness, soft breeze, wheat seedlings and farmlands also comfort visitors’ hearts, making them linger on with no wish to leave. The underground mountain and underground lake featuring steep cliffs, elegant hills, deep waters and limpid pools are truly a marvelous natural wonder, drawing numerous tourists who travel far just to witness this unique scenery.
