Hongze Lake Wetland Scenic Area (National 4A-level Tourist Attraction)
Nestled on the northwest shore of Hongze Lake, China’s fourth-largest freshwater lake famed as "a beautiful and fertile water body abundant with treasures", the scenic area is bordered by the time-honored ancient Bian River to the north and the misty, boundless Hongze Lake to the south. Developed by Sihong County by fully leveraging the resource advantages of Hongze Lake Wetland National Nature Reserve, it integrates sightseeing, ecological leisure, popular science education and other functions into one tourist destination.
Hongze Lake Wetland Scenic Area has successively won numerous honors including National 4A-level Tourist Attraction, Yangtze River Delta World Expo Tour Demonstration Site, China’s Top Ten Ecological Leisure Bases, Jiangsu Provincial Self-driving Tour Base and Jiangsu Provincial Photography Base. It has been awarded the title of Excellent Tourist Attraction of Suqian City every year, standing as the most representative emerging eco-tourism spot in Jiangsu Province.
At present, a host of scenic facilities have been completed within the area, such as a multimedia exhibition hall, wetland ecology museum, wetland aquarium, 3D cinema for wetland landscape shows, Grand Lotus Garden, Thousand-Lotus Garden, fish museum, cruise terminal, waterwheel experience zone and angling center, as well as a wetland reed maze and premium lotus ponds. It also features fitness and sports venues including an aquatic tennis court, beach volleyball court and water sports center. Supporting service facilities include Jinshui Villa Resort, tourist service center and wetland management & protection center.
Within the scenic zone stretch vast lake waters and wide wilderness. Lotus gardens send forth delicate fragrance, winding bridges twist through the landscape, dense reed marshes extend far and wide, and hundreds of birds sing in chorus. Wandering here, visitors feel as if stepping into an unspoiled, natural and picturesque scroll painting.
