Panshi Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery

First built in 1947, the cemetery was originally named Panshi County Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery, where the ashes of 837 revolutionary martyrs are interred. In April 1964, the graveyard was reconstructed into a memorial hall and renamed Panshi County Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery. A Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs stands inside the cemetery in memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives in different periods starting from the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. The site serves as a key patriotic education base of the city.

In 2011, Panshi City launched a rescue and protection project for scattered martyrs’ memorial facilities. Emergency protection measures including relocation and consolidation were carried out on scattered martyrs’ tombs within the territory. New tombs were constructed with inscribed steles following high-standard designs, with a total investment of approximately 23 million yuan.

At present, Panshi Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery has been basically put into operation. The newly built facilities include a leisure square, the Monument to Revolutionary Martyrs, a memorial statue of Dong Cunrui, the martyrs’ tomb area, the Monument to Wang Jingzhou, an illuminated sports court and a parking lot. Two asphalt roads and two stepped paths were newly constructed, together with more than 130 landscape lamps. A 500-square-metre office building was erected. The green coverage area reaches about 50,000 square metres, planted with pine, poplar, cypress, fruit trees as well as various flowers and lawns.
