Potatso National Park
Potatso National Park lies 22 kilometers east of Shangri-La County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It consists of two eco-tourism zones: Bita Lake and Shudu Lake. With elevations ranging from 3,500 meters to 4,159 meters above sea level, it is a provincial nature reserve and a key part of the Three Parallel Rivers scenic area.
The park features nearly all typical plateau landscapes. Alpine lakes glisten like polished mirrors, pastures are lush with grass and water plants, wetlands are blanketed with blooming flowers, and wild birds and animals roam freely in the primeval forests. Bita Lake and Shudu Lake, two stunning freshwater lakes, are hailed as Pearls of the Plateau, boasting well-preserved primitive ecosystems.
An unpolluted fairyland, Potatso meets the national Class I standards for water and air quality. Here you will find crystal-clear lakes, vivid blue skies, the rustle of forests mingling with rippling water, and birdsongs accompanied by floral fragrances. It is an ideal retreat for relaxation and spiritual refreshment.
In spring, admire blooming alpine meadows and azalea-covered mountains, and witness the natural wonders of drunken fish under azaleas and bears catching fish. In summer, cool off amid lush green mountains and flower-dotted meadows. Autumn brings multicolored layered forests, while winter presents striking blue lake waters set against a vast expanse of pure white snow.
