Historical Evolution of Xinhe County

Xinhe County boasts a long history. After Xinjiang was established as a province in the 10th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1884), Xinhe came under the jurisdiction of the Western Township of Kuqa Directly Administered Civil Administration Department, Aksu Circuit.

In the 11th year of the Republic of China (1922), a Toksuk Sub-county was established. On October 27 of the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930), the Toksuk Sub-county was upgraded to Toksuk County. In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), Dayuduz Village of Shaya County was placed under the administration of Toksuk County. In the 30th year of the Republic of China (1941), Toksuk County was renamed Xinhe County, which means "Peace in Xinjiang".

Following the peaceful liberation in September 1949, Xinhe County has remained under the jurisdiction of Aksu Prefecture up to the present day.
