Tourism Resources of Shaya
Shaya lies on a key section of the ancient Silk Road. It is home to numerous historical sites including the Ajinam Ancient Tombs, the Han People’s Canal, Tashdun Ancient City, Tungusbash Ancient City, Butuwash Ancient City, Tobsher Ancient City, Agemari Yantak Sheher Ancient City, Bostan Tughraq Ancient City, Butbash Sheher Ancient City and Yurek Sheher Ancient City.
The Tarim River runs through the county, forming a great many natural and man-made lakes, such as Dareyi Lake, Paman Lake, Jieranlik Lake, Minbing Lake, Ishilkul and Altundashi Lake.
While developing cultural heritage tourism, Shaya has vigorously developed ethnic custom tourism. A series of high-quality tourist attractions have been built, including Tanan Poplar Lake, Dareyi Lake, Poplar Forest Nature Park, Yuanzhongyuan Resort, Economic Forest Ecological Park at the Horticultural Farm, Rural Grape Garden, Changqing Water Park, as well as Tarim River drifting, desert exploration and ethnic culture experience programmes.
These sites are well connected with other famous scenic spots such as Subash Ancient City, Kizil Caves, Mysterious Tianshan Grand Canyon, Zhaoguli Temple, Kizilgaha Beacon Tower and the Big and Little Dragon Ponds, forming a charming tourist route along the ancient Silk Road.
Shaya tourism has become an indispensable part of Kucha tourism. Local people are striving to further develop the natural landscapes of the eternal Tarim River, golden autumn poplar forests and magical desert, so as to build Shaya into the country’s largest eco-tourism base featuring Tarim poplar forests.
