Scenic Spot Address: Southern Valley of Fangshan Tourist Area

Seven Stars Sky Gap, also called Seven Stars Bridge. This seven-bend flat bridge spans the stream and was an important passage on the ancient Silk Road. The valley around the bridge is densely covered with towering ancient trees and intertwined vines whose thick foliage blocks out most of the sunlight. When you stroll on the bridge on a sunny day, only seven streaks of golden sunlight filter through the canopy down to the valley bottom, just like seven bright stars hanging above the treetops. Hence the name "Seven Stars Piercing the Sky".

Carved on the cliff beside the bridge is the inscription Sky Gap written by Zhao Hanwen, the first county magistrate of Yongren in the 14th year of the Republic of China. There are also two other epigraphs from later magistrates: Li Jiace (from Yunlong, Dali) inscribed Revealing My Pure Mind, and Zhang Weiqing (from Huaning, Yuxi) wrote Here One Can Perceive the Truth. These bold, elegant and neatly structured characters remain clearly visible to this day.
