Immortal Turtle Emerging from the Cave

Scenic Spot Address: Middle section of the southern trail in Fangshan Tourist Area

The site gets its name from a natural rock formation that looks just like an immortal turtle poking most of its body out of a cave. Above the turtle stands a stone shaped like a ganoderma lucidum, known as the Ten-Thousand-Year Ganoderma. According to the tale, the turtle attained immortality after eating this magical fungus.

In 1992, Comrade Luo Zhengfu, then Prefect of Chuxiong Prefecture, conducted an inspection tour in Fangshan. He was struck by the delightful scenery and strong spiritual aura here, and inscribed the name "Immortal Turtle Emerging from the Cave".
