Shuanglong Lake

Originally known as Dalazi Reservoir, Shuanglong Lake is situated in Huifa Town, 29 kilometres west of Fangzheng County. It is 131 kilometres away from Harbin and lies beside the Harbin-Tongjiang Highway. It is the only key water control project on the Tongzi River.

The managed area of the lake covers 17.5 square kilometres, with a catchment area of 185 square kilometres. The total storage capacity reaches 42.02 million cubic metres. The maximum height of the dam is 19.5 metres, with a length of 530 metres, a width of 7 metres and a maximum water depth of 14 metres.

Shuanglong Lake is embraced by steep mountains on two sides, boasting exquisite natural scenery. In spring and summer, green hills mirror clear rippling water, trees grow luxuriantly, and birds sing amid blooming flowers. In particular, forty-eight red-crowned cranes inhabiting the wetland in the northwest corner form a stunning scenic highlight. When autumn arrives, the mountains are dyed in riotous colours. The fertile farmland below the dam turns golden, crowded with people and vehicles, presenting a lively harvest scene. In winter, steep peaks are covered in snow. Wild birds and beasts can be seen everywhere, showcasing the unique winter scenery of northern China.

The grand entrance gate features an antique style. Stone pillars carved with jade dragons modelled after Qing Dynasty architecture stand on both sides, reminding visitors of the magnificent Forbidden City and the luxurious Epang Palace. Strolling along the dam, you can see green mountains reflected in emerald water. Gentle breezes stir sparkling waves, creating a fairyland on earth.

On the south side of the highway sits a vivid stone monkey with a proud look. It keeps watch day and night, witnessing every sunrise and sunset, and endlessly waits for this land to become more beautiful and prosperous.
