Administrative History of Jinxian County

In the mid Jian'an reign of the Han Dynasty, Sun Quan controlled the Wu region. He split land from Nanchang and set up three towns: Fucheng, Zhongling and Yifeng. Zhongling Town was established at Damaodu (present-day Minhe Town).
In the first year of the Taikang reign of the Jin Dynasty (280 AD), the town was upgraded to a county under the jurisdiction of Yuzhang Commandery.
The county was abolished during the Liu Song Dynasty of the Southern Dynasties and incorporated into Nanchang County.
Zhongling County was re-established in the fifth year of the Wude reign of the Tang Dynasty (622 AD), under Hongzhou on the West Circuit of Jiangnan.
In the eighth year of the Wude reign (625 AD), Zhongling County was renamed Jinxian Town and placed under Yuzhang County.
In the second year of the Chongning reign of the Song Dynasty (1103 AD), four townships of Nanchang County — Guiren, Chongli, Chongxin and Zhenyin — together with Yuxi East and Yuxi West townships from Xinjian County were assigned to Jinxian Town to form Jinxian County, which belonged to Longxing Prefecture on the West Circuit of Jiangnan.
In the Yuan Dynasty, Jinxian came under Longxing Prefecture of the Jiangxi Branch Secretariat.
In the Ming Dynasty, it was administered by Hongdu Prefecture, later renamed Nanchang Prefecture.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to Nanchang Prefecture under the Jiangxi Administration Commission.
In the first year of the Republic of China, Jiangxi was divided into four circuits, and Jinxian fell under Yuzhang Circuit.
In 1926 (the 15th year of the Republic of China), the circuit system was abolished, and Jinxian was put directly under provincial administration.
In 1932 (the 21st year of the Republic of China), the province was split into 13 administrative regions, and Jinxian belonged to the First Administrative Region (Nanchang District).
In 1939 (the 28th year of the Republic of China), it was transferred to the Eleventh Administrative Region with its administrative office based in Fengcheng.
In 1942 (the 31st year of the Republic of China), it returned to the First Administrative Region, still with the office in Fengcheng.
Jinxian was liberated on May 16, 1949, and the people's government was founded. At first it was under Guixi Prefecture of the Northeast Jiangxi Party Committee.
In November 1949, it came under Nanchang Prefecture.
In December 1958, its jurisdiction shifted to Yichun Prefecture.
On February 28, 1968, it was placed under Fuzhou Prefecture.
Finally, on September 30, 1983, Jinxian was incorporated into Nanchang City
