Tangli Bridge, Tingping

Tangli Bridge is located in Tangli Village, Tingping Township, Minhou County. It was built in 1951 and is a single-span wooden arch covered bridge running east to west.

The bridge measures 28.8 metres in total length, 4.4 metres in width, 3.9 metres in height, with an arch span of 24.8 metres and a vertical clearance of 9.7 metres above the water surface. Its abutments take natural bedrock on both banks as the foundation and are reinforced with stacked rubble stones. Inclined wooden supports interlock to form the arch frame. Round logs are laid lengthwise atop the arch as girders, covered crosswise with wooden planks to form the bridge deck.

The covered gallery features a hip-and-gable roof with a column-and-tie wooden framework, spanning nine bays in width and four columns in depth. A shrine dedicated mainly to the Dark Lord of the Northern Heaven is arranged in the central bay. Wooden railings line both sides of the bridge, protected externally by wind and rain shielding boards.

Serving as a vital transport passage connecting Tangli to Dahu, this bridge is one of the rare surviving wooden arch covered bridges and boasts high scientific research value.
