Gold and Silver Island lies in the bay in the northeast of Nan'ao Island. As its name suggests, the island is closely associated with treasures of gold and silver. Covering an area of about 1,000 square metres, the island is piled with huge boulders crisscrossed by winding paths and stone caves, creating an extremely cool and shady retreat.
In front of the umbrella-shaped pavilion stands a stone statue of a young lady, said to be the younger sister of Wu Ping. She rests one hand on a gold ingot and grips a sword in the other, striking a pose as the guardian of hidden treasures. Legend has it that touching the ingot in her palm will bring you good fortune and wealth.
