Qingjiang Fangshan Scenic Area Attains National 4A Status

On January 9, according to Announcement No. 1 (2018) issued by Hubei Provincial Tourism Attraction Rating Committee, Qingjiang Fangshan Scenic Area in Changyang was officially approved as a national 4A-level tourist attraction. With this new honour, Changyang now boasts one 5A-level scenic spot, one 4A-level scenic spot and three 3A-level scenic spots, forming a solid tourist cluster.

In recent years, Changyang has adhered to the development philosophy of all-for-one tourism and mass tourism. It has vigorously boosted both scenic-area tourism and rural tourism, and built an all-for-one tourism framework led by core scenic spots, supported by key tourist sites and driven by multiple rural travel routes. The county has been awarded titles such as Outstanding Contributor to Provincial Tourism Development and Outstanding Contributor to Rural Tourism and Poverty Alleviation through Tourism. Tourism has become a pillar, priority and leading industry of Changyang County. In 2017, the county received 8 million tourists and achieved a comprehensive tourism revenue of 7.5 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 13.9% and 28.6% respectively.

Qingjiang Fangshan Scenic Area, newly rated as a 4A attraction, was registered in Changyang in June 2013 and officially opened to visitors in September 2015. With a total investment of over 200 million yuan, the scenic area was planned and constructed to high standards. It features the world’s longest cliff plank road, the longest cliff glass plank road in China, and the country’s first pulse gondola cableway. After more than three years of development, the scenic area receives 800,000 visitors every year. It has become another landmark tourist brand of Changyang, following the 5A-level Qingjiang Gallery. Going forward, the scenic area will keep increasing investment, improve infrastructure and upgrade service quality, striving to be promoted to a national 5A-level tourist attraction.
