Jingzhong Mountain
Jingzhong Mountain Tourist Area lies in Santunying Town, Qianxi County. Local county records document two ancient names for the mountain: Ming Mountain to the south and Yin Mountain to the north. During the Tianshun reign of the Ming Dynasty, when the Jizhen Garrison Military Headquarters relocated to Santunying, the mountain was renamed Vermilion Bird Mountain following the traditional feng shui layout: Vermilion Bird in the front, Black Tortoise at the rear, Azure Dragon to the left, White Tiger to the right.
Later, a Three Loyalty Shrine was built on the mountain. Drawing from the reverence for loyal and righteous figures embodied by the shrine, the mountain received its present name, Jingzhong Mountain (Mountain of Admired Loyalty).
Praised by the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty as "A Famous Mountain Under Heaven", Jingzhong Mountain is celebrated for its breathtaking naturally carved scenery, profound time-honored Buddhist and Taoist culture, and exquisitely crafted grand ancient architectural relics.
Its religious heritage stretches back millennia. Historical records note Taoist monks began secluded spiritual practice on the southern slopes as early as the Song Dynasty, and incense offerings have persisted unbroken for hundreds of years. In the late Ming Dynasty, frontier generals led by national hero Qi Jiguang drew inspiration from the mountain to uphold lofty ideals and renovated temples across the slopes.
The Three Loyalty Shrine enshrines three paragons of patriotic loyalty — Zhuge Liang, Yue Fei and Wen Tianxiang — promoting Confucian statecraft ideology. The Grand Hall of the Goddess of Blue Dawn venerates the paramount Taoist deity Bixia Yuanjun, who enjoys immense folk reverence.
