Six kilometers north of Ciping stands the Red Army’s first hospital, the Red Radiance Hospital, now listed as a National Key Cultural Relic and open to the public. Back then, the hospital contained consultation rooms, an operating theater and wards across 32 rooms, accommodating over 200 wounded and sick soldiers.
On October 1, 1929, Jinggangshan temporarily fell to enemy forces. More than a hundred severely injured soldiers could not be evacuated and all sacrificed heroically. After the founding of New China, local Jinggangshan residents built the Red Army Martyrs Cemetery on the site where the martyrs laid down their lives.
