Wangershan Mountain
Introduction to Wangershan Mountain
Wangershan Mountain stands 2 kilometers east of Xiongyue Town. The steep peak rises abruptly from flat ground, 82 meters high with an altitude of 106 meters. On its summit sits a Tibetan-style blue brick pagoda named Wang'er Pagoda, built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Viewed from afar, it resembles a mother standing on the mountain, gazing out over the sea day and night, waiting for her son’s return.
A famous mountain in southern Liaoning, Wangershan derives its name from the touching legend of maternal love and is renowned nationwide for its maternal love theme. It boasts more than ten scenic spots themed on maternal love: the Statue of the Loving Mother, Mother Worship Pavilion, Mother-Stepping Stone, Breastfeeding Pavilion, Wang'er Pagoda, Mother Worship Shrine, Mother’s Blessing Spring, Mother’s Grace Pond, Mother Remembrance Shrine, Immortal Bridge, Wangershan Villa, Mother-Son Bridge, Maternal Love Zone and Demeanor Garden. Every year, numerous domestic and overseas tourists come here to pay homage to maternal love. Many scholars and virtuous figures have inscribed essays eulogizing their mothers on stone tablets for permanent commemoration.
The spectacular "World of Maternal Love" sculpture cluster serves as the landmark highlighting the core maternal love theme of the scenic area. The vivid, varied sculptures fully embody the profound greatness of maternal love across humanity.
