Famous far and wide as a "land of pears", Xiakou Town has nearly 40,000 mu of pear orchards. Every early April, pear blossoms burst into full bloom, covering the vast orchards like a sea of pure white snow and jade.
When coming to Xiakou Town, be sure to visit Laolao Village, which has a profound pear culture heritage. Here lies the Centennial Pear Orchard Scenic Area. Apart from viewing fragrant pear blossoms from the flower-watching platform, you can also explore scenic spots such as the Elegant Pear Pond, the Statue of Elder Liu and the Pear Culture Museum.
Yang Mingli, director of Laolao Village Committee, introduced that pear blossoms are expected to bloom around Qingming Festival (April 4) this year, with a flowering period of about ten days. During this time, visitors can admire not only stretches of pear blossoms but also bright rapeseed flowers in full bloom.
The village grows more than ten pear varieties including Yali pear, New No.7 Pear, Xueqing Pear, Golden Pear and Hosui Pear. The fruits ripen successively from August to October, when tourists can experience the fun of fruit picking in the orchards.
Besides Xiakou Town in Fucheng County, visitors can also enjoy pear blossoms in Bingcao Township, Tangfeng Town, Mucun Township and Dong'anzhuang Township of Shenzhou City
