Mount Putuo is an islet belonging to Zhoushan, hailed as the "Fishery Granary of the East China Sea". Buddha statues (wood-carved, ceramic, stone-carved, bronze and gold-plated Guanyin and Maitreya statues), amulet cards, shell carvings, animal figurines crafted from conch shells, pearl-shell necklaces, and more.

Every year during the Guanyin Culture Festival (usually held in November), the Three Auspicious Treasures of Mount Putuo are selected. Stalls and shops selling handicrafts cluster around Puji Temple, Fayu Temple, Huiji Temple and Purple Bamboo Grove. All major temples also run Dharma Goods Distribution Centers.

Putuo Buddhist Tea
Also known as Buddha Summit Cloud and Mist Tea, it originates from wild tea plants growing on Buddha Summit over 200 meters above sea level. With a long history, it was designated a royal tribute during the Qing Dynasty and won the Second Class Award at the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition.
Guanyin Cakes
Vegetarian pastries stuffed with seaweed, sesame, peanuts and other fillings. Low in sugar and fully plant-based, they align perfectly with modern healthy wellness concepts.
Tips for Local Specialty Shopping
Putuo Buddhist Tea is available at the teahouse beneath Chaoyang Pavilion. Guanyin cakes and similar snacks are sold by vendors along Xianghua Street, Meichen Road, South Heavenly Gate and near major scenic spots and pilgrim trails; prices are negotiable. It is recommended to shop later in the evening, as vendors are more flexible with discounts during night business hours.
