Transportation within Mount Tai Scenic Area
Access Gates
Mount Tai is closely connected with downtown Tai’an, which lies at the southern foot of the mountain. The mountain stands directly north of the city. On clear days, Jade Emperor Peak, the main summit, can be seen distinctly.
There are four official ticketed entrances for mountain climbing:
Red Gate, Tianwaicun (Heaven and Earth Square), Taohuayu (Peach Blossom Valley), and Tianzhufeng (Heavenly Candle Peak).
Cableways
Three cableway lines serve different climbing routes:
Mid Heaven Gate Cableway, Taohuayuan Cableway and Houshiwu Cableway.
Sightseeing Buses
Two sightseeing bus routes operate inside the scenic zone:
- Between Tianwaicun and Mid Heaven Gate
- Between Taohuayu and Taohuayuan
