Lianhua Mountain in Xintai (Admission Ticket Required)

Boasting gorgeous natural scenery, the mountain is dotted with grotesque rock formations and towering pine and cypress trees. Streams and waterfalls fill the valleys.
  • In spring, the green hills are wrapped in lush vegetation.
  • In summer, three groups of hanging waterfalls roar down the slopes.
  • In autumn, the sunset glow over Gongshan Mountain paints the sky with rosy clouds.
  • In winter, the mountain peaks are covered in snow, forming a spectacular silver landscape.
The scenery varies greatly with seasons, times of day, and weather conditions. It is an ideal destination for sightseeing, leisure, as well as cultural and scientific activities.

Notices

  1. Opening Hours: 8:00 – 17:30
  2. Ticketing Policies for Special Groups
    A. Free Admission:
    Seniors aged 70 and above, retired military personnel, the disabled with valid certificates, and children under 1.2 meters in height.
    B. Concession (Half Price, 40 RMB per person):
    Seniors aged 60–69, full-time students with valid ID, and children between 1.2 and 1.4 meters tall.
    Note: Holiday concessions shall follow the on-site notice on the day of visit.
  3. This is the main gate ticket. No extra fees for minor scenic spots inside the park.
    Cable car: One-way 30 RMB; round trip 50 RMB.

Transportation

Self-driving Routes

  • Beijing–Shanghai Expressway: Exit at Guodu if driving from Jinan; exit at Xintai if driving from Linyi.
  • Binzhou–Xintai Expressway: Exit at Xintai.
  • South Route of Jinan–Qingdao Expressway: Transfer to Binzhou–Xintai Expressway at the Laiwu section and exit at Xintai.

Public Transport

Take the dedicated bus to Lianhua Mountain from Xintai Bus Station.
Fare: 3.5 RMB.
Departure: 6:30, 9:00, 11:00, 14:00, 16:00.
Return: 8:00, 10:00, 13:00, 15:00, 17:00.
Two more bus lines run by Xintai Public Transport Company: Liangzhuang Coal Mine — Lianhua Mountain and Xiaoxie — Lianhua Mountain.

Culai Mountain National Forest Park

It is a mountain resort integrating natural landscapes and cultural relics, known as the sister mountain of Mount Tai. It is also a sacred revolutionary site for the Shandong armed uprising against Japanese aggression. The Monument to the Anti-Japanese Armed Uprising, inscribed by Marshal Xu Xiangqian, stands here. It has been designated a provincial patriotic education base.

Main Sights

Sunset over Culai Mountain, Wen River meandering around the hills, Monument to the Anti-Japanese Armed Uprising, Swing Frame, Military Headquarters, Peace Peak, Wolongwan Bay, Zhuowanwan Bay, Four Saints Temple, Guanghua Temple, Hidden Immortal Temple, Two Sages Palace and Liangfu Mountain.

Transportation

  1. Buses departing from Tai’an Bus Station, the stop next to Sihai Shopping Mall and South Gate Station run along Tai-Lou Highway and Tai-Liang Highway towards Loude, Xintai, Liangzhuang, Fangcun and Culai Mountain.
    Get off at Jiuxian, Sunjiatuan, Beiwang, Southwestwang or Heishibu, then walk 1.5 kilometres east or north to reach the forest park.
  2. Take a bus to Linyi from Tai’an Bus Station and exit at Huamawan on the Beijing–Shanghai Expressway. Then take a taxi along Highway 09 to Guanghua Temple (East Gate of the park). The whole trip takes about 1 hour.

Local Specialties

Visitors can buy free-range eggs, chestnuts, walnuts and other farm produce from local mountain households.

Reminders

Please wear sneakers or cloth shoes and bring extra outerwear. Strict fire prevention is enforced inside the scenic area, and pay close attention to personal safety during hiking.
Do not pick wild vegetables or drink mountain spring water without permission.
The park covers a vast area, so driving is recommended. If you hike on foot, return the same way after reaching Peace Peak; do not continue to Guanghua Temple.

Lashan National Forest Park

From here you can overlook Liangshan Mountain, travel south to Qufu, climb north to Mount Tai, and visit nearby historic sites including Jingyanggang, Guangyue Tower and Cao Zijian’s Tomb.

Cable car: One-way 20 RMB; round trip 30 RMB. Boat tickets for lake trips are sold separately.

Transportation

Shuttle buses run between Yinshan Town and Lashan Mountain with frequent departures. The ride takes 10 minutes and costs 1 RMB.

Water Margin Stockade & Water Fortress

The site consists of four parts: water fortress, suspension bridge, mountain stockade and Hall of Loyalty and Righteousness. It was the filming location for the new TV series Water Margin.

Transportation

Take a long-distance bus bound for Heze or Liangshan from Jinan Coach Terminal and get off at Yinshan Station.
  • Distance from Jinan: 100 kilometres; buses depart every 30 minutes.
  • Distance from Liangshan Railway Station: 20 kilometres; buses depart every 20 minutes.
    You can also get off at Liangshan Station on the Beijing–Kowloon Railway and transfer to a bus to Yinshan Station.

Niushan Forest Park

Key attractions: Dragon God Temple, Eagle Rock and Muke Stockade.

Transportation

  1. From Jinan: Drive along Jinan–Weishan Highway through Changqing into Feicheng. After about 10 kilometres, turn right at the first crossroads (intersection of Old Tai-Lin Road and Jinan–Weishan Road). Drive 5 kilometres west along Old Tai-Lin Road to Sunniu Road, then turn north and drive another 4 kilometres toward the mountain foot. You will pass Shilipu Village and a military unit on the way.
  2. From Tai’an: Take the first-class highway. Turn left at the first exit and drive roughly 10 kilometres to Sunniu Road, then head north for another 10 kilometres to the mountain foot. You will pass Shilipu Village and a military unit.
  3. From Liaocheng: Take Tai-Lin Road into Feicheng. Pass Hutun and reach the High-tech Zone. Turn left at the third crossroads (Sunniu Road & Tai-Lin Road) and drive 10 kilometres north to the mountain foot, passing Shilipu Village and the military unit.

Mount Tai Siberian Tiger Park

The park sits at the foot of Mount Tai, only 200 metres away from the Red Gate hiking trail. It contains white tiger zone, black tiger zone, adult tiger zone, cub zone, macaque zone, performance stage and cub photo area. Surrounded by primitive natural scenery, it is a perfect leisure destination.
