Where to Eat Delicious Food in Rizhao?

There are two main choices for enjoying seafood in Rizhao.

Haibin Second Road has the densest concentration of seafood restaurants. Bada Wan near the Third Beach is the oldest fish restaurant in Rizhao. Its seafood fish soup stewed with fresh sea fish is an unparalleled local specialty.

If you want to dine with sea views, head to Shuifurong Hotel at the eastern end of Shanhai Road. Built right on the coastal cliff, it is surrounded by the sea on three sides with a broad panoramic view stretching over vast blue waves. The tide looks extremely magnificent during flood seasons. The hotel also has a private wharf and yachts.

Rizhao boasts a rich variety of seafood: prawns, scallops, coelomactra antiquata, clams, ark shells, variegated clams, razor clams, sea cucumbers and more. Seafood dishes at fisher inns generally cost 10 to 20 yuan per plate with generous portions, enough for you to feast to your heart’s content.

You can also take the seafood you catch on the beach to these inns. Many owners offer cooking service, usually charging only 3 yuan for preparing one type of seafood.

In addition, Rizhao has excellent mutton restaurants clustered along Shandong Road. An authentic bowl of mutton soup costs merely around 8 yuan.

Most prawns and mantis shrimp are farmed, and fresh live ones do not always taste better than unfrozen non-live ones. Never buy frozen seafood, as it will become watery and lose most of its flavour. Size is not everything. For oysters, smaller ones are wild while larger ones are farm-raised.

Rizhao Port has shipping routes to South Korea, so Korean food is widely available here. The most popular Korean eatery is a family-run restaurant in Shijiu Market. It offers low prices with an open kitchen, so you can watch your meal being prepared while waiting. Several Korean grocery stores are right next door.

Dazhong Beef Head Restaurant is located north of the intersection of Taiyuan Road and Tianjin Road. The dishes are amazing, especially mixed beef lips and beef tongue. Pair it with shredded beef wrapped in pancakes, tossed lettuce stems, and a plate of big bone stew (15 yuan per serving). The plain broth is free to drink as much as you like.
