Seven-Day Cultural Tour of Rizhao Customs

Wanpingkou Scenic Area, Lighthouse Scenic Area, Yi'an Sand Culture Experience Hall, Bamboo Cave Paradise, Heshan Scenic Area, Rizhao National Forest Park, Wulian Mountain Scenic Area, Jiuxian Mountain Scenic Area, Wanbao Coastal Tourist Resort, Fulai Mountain Scenic Area, Ju State Museum, Zhaoqi Black Pottery Culture Park

Day 1 Visit Wanpingkou Scenic Area, the landmark reception hall of Rizhao. Tour the Naval Warfare Museum and climb the Tide Tower to overlook the blue sea and golden beaches of Rizhao from above. Then explore Lighthouse Scenic Area and enjoy the magnificent sea view just as ancient poets did.

Day 2 Head to Yi'an Sand Culture Experience Hall to appreciate sand artworks including sand embroidery, sand sculptures and sand paintings. Afterwards visit Bamboo Cave Paradise to watch ethnic minority performances and enjoy the bamboo pole dance. In the afternoon, travel to Heshan Scenic Area and view the giant cliff inscription of "Rizhao" — the world’s largest carved Chinese characters.

Day 3 Tour Rizhao Coastal National Forest Park. The park boasts thick woods, smooth fine beaches and clear seawater. Visitors can play beach volleyball, watch flocks of seagulls and fishing boats, or chase the waves and collect shells along the shore.

Day 4 Explore Wulian Mountain, which enjoys the fame comparable to Mount Wutai in Shanxi. Visit Huguo Wanshou Guangming Temple, the Great Buddha of Wulian and Sea-view Peak amid grotesque rock formations. Then tour Jiuxian Mountain, including Black Dragon Pool, the canyon hiking trail and the cascading Snow Waterfall.

Day 5 Spend the day at Wanbao Coastal Tourist Resort. Wander across thousands of mu of tidal flats to dig clams, collect shells and pick starfish, experiencing the joy of beachcombing. You can also fish quietly by the seaside pond and enjoy the peaceful vastness of the ocean.

Day 6 Visit Fulai Mountain. Admire the Three Peaks of Fulai and the Oldest Ginkgo Tree Under Heaven, and make wishes before the ancient tree. Tour Dinglin Temple, a thousand-year-old Buddhist shrine. Later visit Ju State Museum to learn about the long-standing and profound Ju culture.

Day 7 Travel to Zhaoqi Black Pottery Culture Park to experience 5,000 years of black pottery civilization and take part in hands-on pottery making.
