Brief Introduction
Sanqing Mountain is a famous Taoist sacred mountain and Jiangxi Province’s first World Natural Heritage Site. It sits on the border between Yushan County and Dexing City in Shangrao, Jiangxi, and forms the main peak of the Huaiyu Mountain Range.
It takes its name from three graceful summits: Yujing, Yuxu and Yuhua. Yujing Peak, the main summit, rises to 1,816.9 metres above sea level.
After 1.4 billion years of geological evolution, Sanqing Mountain has formed an unparalleled granite peak forest landscape.
It boasts four natural wonders: exotic jagged peaks and grotesque rocks, ancient trees and rare blossoms, flowing springs and plunging waterfalls, plus rolling sea of clouds and mist.
Sanqing Mountain is celebrated for its natural mountain scenery and distinguished by Taoist cultural relics. It has long served as a Taoist cultivation sanctuary. Ever since Ge Hong pioneered the mountain in the Jin Dynasty, it has attracted numerous Taoist scholars and believers.
