Are Menyuan's Rapeseed Blossoms Worth Seeing? Introduction to Menyuan Rapeseed Flowers
Rapeseed flowers can be found almost everywhere and are nothing rare, yet those in Menyuan boast unparalleled grandeur. Bordered by the Qilian Mountains to the north, Yong’an City to the west, Yulong Beach to the east and Daban Mountain to the south, the flower fields stretch for over a hundred kilometers, resembling an endless golden ocean.
Vibrant golden blossoms line the banks of the Haomen River, spreading horizontally across the entire Menyuan Basin for a hundred kilometers. Beneath the deep sapphire plateau sky, they set off distant mountains, nearby waters and scattered villages, forming breathtaking vistas whether viewed up close or from afar.
Most farmlands slope gently toward the surging Haomen River. Standing on the riverbank and gazing left and right, you will see nothing but boundless golden hues as far as the eye can see. The Haomen River winds through the flower sea like a silvery ribbon edged with two golden fringes, shimmering in harmony with the distant Qilian Mountains. Against the classic plateau backdrop of blue skies and white clouds, the vast expanse of gold appears exceptionally gorgeous and stirring. This simple composition of massive color blocks stirs boundless imagination in visitors.
Right beside the Menyuan flower sea lies the Qilian Mountain Grassland, ranked among China’s most beautiful pastures. Its rich pastoral scenery characteristic of western Tibetan areas offers a totally different kind of charm. The two distinct landscapes intertwine and complement each other, filling visitors with amazement and a surreal sense of traveling through time and space.
July marks the annual blooming season. The rapeseed fields extend dozens of kilometers: from Qingshizui in the west to Yulong Beach in the east, Lenglong Ridge on the Gansu border in the north, and Daban Mountain in the south, forming a sprawling golden ocean once again. As most farmlands slope toward the river course, standing on the riverbank you will behold an overwhelming sea of golden blossoms stretching endlessly on both sides, with the Datong River meandering through the center. The river looks just like a silvery ribbon trimmed with double golden borders, dancing gently and echoing the grand silhouette of the Qilian Mountains far away.
