Temples Worth Visiting in Haibei

The Must-See Temple in Haibei: Baifo Temple

Baifo Temple is the most worthwhile temple to visit in Haibei. It sits on the northern shore of Qinghai Lake and was first built in the Ming Dynasty, serving as a typical Gelugpa Buddhist monastery. The temple boasts a highly distinctive layout shaped like an exquisite lotus throne, surrounded by rolling mountains. Behind the temple rises a mountain range that resembles an elephant carrying treasures, presenting a marvelous natural landscape.
The halls inside the monastery are resplendent and magnificent. The sounds of morning bells and evening drums echo here all year round. Climb up to the scripture hall, and you can overlook stunning distant vistas. The weather here is refreshingly cool in summer, making it an ideal summer retreat.

The Most Efficacious Temple in Haibei: Jiaoshiko Monastery

Jiaoshiko Monastery in Gangcha County is reputed as the most efficacious temple for prayers in Haibei. Constructed in the 1930s, it does not cover a huge area but houses abundant cultural treasures, including scripture chanting halls, scripture depositories and numerous precious cultural relics.
Blessings sought here are widely believed to come true. Benefiting from a prime geographic location and convenient transport links, the monastery draws throngs of devout believers.

The Temple with the Thriving Incense Worship in Haibei: Jiaduo Temple

Jiaduo Temple in Menyuan, erected in the Qing Dynasty, has the most vigorous incense worship in Haibei. It features classic traditional Buddhist architectural styles, complete with grand scripture halls and Buddha halls. Incense curls perpetually within the compound, as countless pilgrims come to burn incense and pay homage to Buddha all year long.
This serene place calms the mind and serves as an excellent venue for spiritual practice. Apart from local worshippers, it also attracts devotees from all across China. Please abide by the monastery’s rules upon entry: refrain from random touching or scribbling on the buildings and relics.
