How to Get to the Greater Khingan Range
By Air
There are two airports serving the Greater Khingan Range: Mohe Airport in Mohe County and Jiagedaqi Airport.
Mohe Airport
Officially named Mohe Gulian Airport, it is China’s northernmost civil airport sitting at the highest latitude nationwide.
It officially opened for commercial flights on June 18, 2008, initially operating three routes: Mohe–Harbin, Mohe–Heihe and Mohe–Hailar. Later, additional air routes were launched, including round-trip flights between Mohe and Beijing, flights from Mohe to Hulunbuir, as well as connecting flights via Harbin from Mohe to Dalian and Shenyang.
Jiagedaqi Airport
Jiagedaqi Civil Airport is a comprehensive airport expanded upon the renovation and expansion of the original Jiagedaqi Aerial Forest Fire Protection Station. It is also the first civil airport in China reconstructed from a general aviation airport.
Currently available routes include Harbin–Jiagedaqi–Mohe and Beijing–Harbin–Jiagedaqi. More routes linking Jiagedaqi to Shanghai, Dalian, Qingdao and other cities will be launched in succession in the future.
By Train
Most tourists traveling to the Greater Khingan Range aim to visit Mohe, home to the famed Arctic Village.
Travelers usually first arrive in Harbin, then take a train to Jiagedaqi, a journey of around 9 hours. From Jiagedaqi, transfer to another train: it takes more than 10 hours to reach Mohe Township, and over 2 hours to get to Luoguhe Village.
By Coach / Highway
Long-distance passenger trains run south directly to Harbin, Shenyang and Beijing, and west to Hailar and Manzhouli. The Linhu and Tahan branch railways span the entire region.
An extensive network of urban and rural highways covers the area. The Nenjiang–Mohe Highway, National Highway 111 and Heihe Highway all connect to the Greater Khingan Range, leading straight to Harbin and linking up with the provincial highway network across all cities in Heilongjiang Province. The total length of accessible highways reaches 1,560 kilometers.
By Ship
Inland water transport goes downstream along the Heilongjiang River straight to Jiamusi and Harbin. Vessels can reach the sea via Nikolayevsk-on-Amur (Russia) to realize river-sea combined transport.
