Bezeklik Thousand-Buddha Caves lies 45 km east of downtown Turpan, Xinjiang, embedded on the west cliff of Mutou Valley at the foot of the Flaming Mountains抖音百科. Its Uyghur name means “decorated hillside”. Carved from the Northern and Southern Dynasties to the Yuan Dynasty, it was the royal Buddhist temple of the Uyghur Gaochang Kingdom and a core Buddhist art treasure on the ancient Silk Road.
