Part 1: Lakes & Island Scenery
Lianyungang’s charm extends far beyond Mountain of Flowers and Fruits and Liandao Island. Even local residents rarely visit Huaguoshan.
Bamboo Island
It gets its name from dense dwarf bamboo covering the hill. Stretches of laver aquaculture farms spread across the sea near the island, forming serene marine farmlands full of peace and relaxation. However, landing on the island is inconvenient.
Bamboo Island sits close to the shore; geologically it is a peak of the Yuntai Mountain Range. The coastal waters are shallow, so visitors can only reach the island during high tide.
Route Info: A simple pier lies on the southern side of the island, only accessible to vessels under dozens of tons at high tide. Boat transfer is mandatory.
Qinshan Island
The island boasts over 20 major historical sites, including a thousand-year ancient pavilion, Li Si Stele, Xu Fu Well, Tianfei Palace, Pearl Receiving Platform, Eastern Qin Gate, and ancient artillery emplacements.
The Eastern Qin Gate stands more than 10 meters tall, an imposing sight. A cobblestone path leads to the island: it submerges under water at high tide and emerges as a natural land passage when the tide recedes, a fascinating natural wonder.
Route Info: Tour yachts transport visitors to the island at a slightly higher fare. Official travel notices for Qinshan Island list detailed prices. Take Bus No.2 to the ticket office at the river mouth of Wanghe, Songkousha Village. Camping is available on the island. The boat ride takes 40 to 50 minutes, with daily departures from Qingkou Town, Ganyu District.
The Three Front Islands
Located in Haizhou Bay, south of Rizhao, Shandong and east of Lianyungang, Jiangsu, the islands sit roughly 50 km away from both cities. The archipelago consists of Cheniushan Island, Dashan Island (also called Danianshan Island), and Pingdao Island (also known as Pingshan Island).
- One-day tour: 260 RMB per person (covers round-trip ferry, entrance fee and insurance. Purchase two adult tickets to bring one child under 1.4 meters free; child insurance is paid separately).
- Offshore angling: starting at 850 RMB per person (3 days & 2 nights; catering and accommodation available at extra cost).

Gaogong Island
A peninsula surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the sea on the fourth. On sweltering summer days, its sapphire sea offers perfect relaxation. Golden sand, blue waves, soaring seagulls and constant sea breezes make it the best spot on the eastern coast to watch sunrise.
Transport: Alight at East Lianyungang Port Station, walk 2 km east, then take Bus No.31 to Huangwo Scenic Area Stop.
West Liandao Fishing Village
Preserves the original primitive fishing village landscape, featuring a fishing port pier, lighthouse, hydrological observation station, jagged reefs, crystal-clear seawater and natural beaches. The coastal ring road delivers the finest vistas, and gentle seasonal winds create an exceptionally comfortable atmosphere.
Route: Take BRT to Xiyuan Road Station, transfer to Tour Bus No.3 (originating at Lianyungang East Station) and get off at West Liandao Village. Alternatively, take Tour Bus No.3 to Liandao Bathing Beach, then walk east along the coastal ring road — walking or cycling is recommended.
Xinghai Lake
Fairly close to downtown, the lake is framed by mountains, creating a seamless blend of mountain and water scenery. Visitors may spread a mat on the lakeside lawn to enjoy snacks and admire the views for a pleasant casual outing.

Dacun Reservoir (Great Sage Lake)
Nestled at the foot of Huaguoshan Mountain, this tranquil lake is encircled by rolling hills. The Ashoka Pagoda of Haiqing Temple casts its reflection on the water, forming breathtaking scenery.

Xihu Lake
Well deserving of the nickname "Mini West Lake". The scenic area lies in western Donghai County, split into north and south lakes connected by a cross-lake bridge. It is ideal for leisure and picnicking. Visitors can set up barbecue grills by the shore and gaze across shimmering water for total relaxation.
